Maker’s Motif II is a one-of-one dimensional metal mural, entirely hand-fabricated as an original work of collectible art by Bootleg Silver Co.

Built across a brass faceplate, individually hand-cut and textured layers of copper and silver create a continuous mountain range with genuine physical depth. At the center of the landscape sits Maw Sit Sit, surrounded by an assemblage of natural stone, precious materials, found objects and hand-fabricated botanical forms.

On the left, Rattlesnake turquoise rises from the landscape alongside cactus-inspired blooms created with Guatemalan jade and Mediterranean coral. Vintage silver beads discovered in an antique store were reimagined within the work as dimensional flower petals, accented with Guatemalan jade blossoms and gold-tone centers.

Across the foreground, larger hand-formed silver flowers hold luminous Mother-of-Pearl centers among raw turquoise and additional botanical elements. Hand-stamped floral impressions and floral-patterned silver wire continue the botanical language across the composition.

Above the mountain range, Ammolite forms the sun, revealing flashes of red, orange and green as the artwork is viewed from changing angles and light. Arizona Gem Silica is incorporated as inlay, bringing another element of the American Southwest directly into the landscape.

The dimensional construction allows the work to change with perspective. Layered mountains recede into the brass faceplate while stones, flowers and botanical elements project forward, creating shadows and revealing details that shift as the viewer moves around the piece.

The Presentation

The framing was designed and built as an extension of the artwork itself.

Maker’s Motif II is mounted against a handmade layered mat combining two textures of distressed leather, including a dark brown oiled leather inner field and rustic leather surround. A narrow exotic snakeskin accent borders the mural before the composition is housed within a deep shadowbox, preserving the sculptural depth of the metalwork.

Every component of Maker’s Motif II was individually selected, cut, formed, textured, layered and assembled by hand. Vintage and found materials were incorporated alongside natural stone and newly fabricated metalwork, ensuring this exact composition cannot be reproduced.
