The cabochon came from a fifth-generation family of miners in Nevada, and it was polished by their four-year-old son while he was at the bench helping his mom. That little detail belongs in the history of this piece — another set of small hands learning a family trade and becoming part of the stone’s journey before it ever reached my bench.
